6 everyday exercises to help you stay happy

Being happy is your right. When you are happy, your body stays fit and you become more productive.You feel like working, running, dancing because your body gets that rush of positive energy. However, sometimes you feel low on positivity – your environment feeds in negativity to you and you feel all lazy, weak and low on energy, which further compounds the problem.

So, here is a list of 6 exercises you should do everyday to stay happy and motivated.

  1. Do positive affirmation: Take a piece of paper and write on it – I am happy and lucky to be alive. I am full of positivity and only great things will happen to me today. Say this 5 times in the morning to yourself out loud before starting the day. By doing this you send the right signals to your inner self and to the universe.
  2. Do physical exercise: Make yourself get up, and start being active. You can play a sport, hit the gym or start walking in a park. Exercise helps your body rejuvenate through release of endorphins – that leads to an energy and mood boost for a good number of hours. Remember how your mom told you to go out to play after school and come back and study? Well now you know why.
  3. Eat and drink well: Eat whole meals, drink water and sleep more – having proper diets helps your body which intern helps your mind and increases the likelihood of being happy.
  4. Reduce low quality interactions : We meet a lot of people, come to know of many stories, a lot of content is out there in todays digital world. However a lot of that content does you harm. Try to find good content to read and increase the quality of your interactions. Avoid excessive social media usage because the people faces you see in it of travelling, partying, getting promotions etc can make you feel inadequate and incomplete thus acting as a catalyst for negative thoughts. Instead reduce social media usage, try learn a hobby, go out and learn a sport and keep exerting your body.
  5. Make a close rung of relations and water them: We are social beings. We need people around for our support and we in turn help them when the need arises. Activities are more fun when the people we love are around, Select your group of people and be committed to them. They can be family/friends, whosoever, keep them close.
  6. Make a list of 3 things you love doing and dedicate yourself to it, outside of your normal scheme of daily affairs. See a track of monthly progress and see if you are doing justice to those activities you like doing. Sometimes procrastination seeps in and we feel lazy, start thinking negative and get unhappy. Reduce this by focussing on the things you love the most.

Try doing these 6 activities on a daily basis and you will start noticing a change in yourself. Once you start feeling positive, it will have a cascading effect on your life – your work, your relations all will see a push for the better. Once you are having positive thoughts, you will enjoy your company and look inward and discover new things about yourself. It all begins with positive thinking. And that in turn begins with inculcating the right habits.
